There are many people out there that always follow instructions. One of the first lessons humans receive as young children is how to follow instructions. We are generally good at adhering to these directives. However, initiative is the quality that sets the person out from the crowd. A leader is known for their initiative, which goes beyond simply following orders to create new ways to accomplish more. If a leader’s duty is to advance a cause, then initiative is the means through which such advancement can be made. 

The second tier of the pyramid of success is devoted to initiative, which is a valued leadership skill and a must for any team that wants to operate at its peak.
